Meet Marc

I grew up in Manhattan, Kansas where I graduated from Manhattan High School lettering in football, basketball and track – and served as co-captain of a state champion football team and president of the Student Council. I also earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Manhattan. I attended Kansas State University where I served as Vice President and Scholarship Chair of the Theta Xi Fraternity, Chairman of the K-State Student Union Governing Board and Treasurer of the Steel Ring Engineering Honorary. I was selected as a Knight of Saint Patrick for my contributions to the College of Engineering. I graduated in 1979 with a degree in Nuclear Engineering.

Following College, I attended the University of Kansas School of Law graduating in 1982. While in Law School, I served as Associate Editor of the Kansas Law Review and graduated as a member of the Order of the Coif Honorary and Phi Kappa Phi. After Law School, I joined the Kansas City firm of Morrison Hecker, now Stinson Leonard Street. There I practiced as a commercial litigation and telecom/electric utility regulatory lawyer becoming a partner in 1988.

In 2003, I joined the leadership team at Cerner Corporation as Vice President and Associate General Counsel where I was responsible for all of Cerner’s litigation as well as supplier contracting. In 2014, I was appointed Chief Compliance Officer to develop and manage a compliance program to address Cerner’s legal obligation under both US law and the global jurisdictions where Cerner did business. I retired from Cerner as Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel in 2021.

My wife, Jana, and I moved to Leawood from Lenexa in 1990 with our two children.  Both our son and our daughter graduated from Blue Valley North and Kansas State University and remain in the Kansas City Area where they are raising our 3 grandchildren.
